GRANDEMEC CUT – DIRECT CUT 300 mm
Large Shearmec is an electromechanical frame designed to perform direct shear and residual tests on samples with coarse to medium grained soils, such as gravel. The stainless steel shear box is 300×300 mm in size to accommodate the larger diameter of the grains and to obtain shear strength values for the sample as a whole, not just for individual particles.
Cutting force and vertical pressure are applied by 2 electromechanical actuators of 100 kN each, with a stroke of 150 mm and 75 mm respectively. Stresses are measured by two 100 kN electronic load cells, one for horizontal force and one for vertical pressure.
To facilitate sample introduction and access to the test area, I&S Group has developed an innovative top plate lifting system with self-locking joint that guarantees the axiality of the load.
The Cyber Plus Progress unit, based on closed-loop control, manages the system completely and automatically, from data acquisition to real-time graphic display. The machine can even be controlled remotely via SmartLab, the innovative software platform that allows both data acquisition and processing and the export of test results. The large Shearmec can also be configured to test geosynthetic materials.
